Ronald Louis Meyers, 73, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2011) at Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville.
Mr. Meyers was born on Jan. 12, 1937 in Wellsville to Frank Earl Meyers and Virginia (Davis) Meyers Peangatelli. He was a 1956 graduate of Wellsville High School and later served in the US Air Force from 1956 – 1960. Ronald worked for Dresser Rand in Wellsville for 36 years until his retirement in 1999. In his early years he delivered papers for the Wellsville Daily Reporter and caddied at the Wellsville Country Club pro shop. Later, he worked at Ithaca Gun Company, the Modern Diner, Umiker’s Meat Market and even owned and operated Ron’s Diner. Ron is survived by a daughter, Lorrie Meyers (Adam) Chapman and a son, Brian Jeffrey (Debbie) Meyers, both of Wellsville; two sisters, Sonoma (Tom) Hancock of Urbana, Ohio and Debby (Dennis) Whelply of Watertown, NY; two brothers, William Meyers of Philadelphia, NY and Tony (Rita) Peangatelli of Wellsville; four grandchildren, Siera Kristen Perry, Christopher Daniel Meyers, Colin James Meyers and Samantha Louise Pensyl; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, James Paul Meyers; a brother, Roger Meyers; and the love of his life, Anne (Buckley) Miller. Ron greatly enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to hunt, fish and camp. He spent a couple weeks of each summer fishing in Canada and in later years, fished Black Lake, NY. He was a member of the Coops Troop square dancing club. Additionally, he was an active member of the Wellsville American Legion, Wellsville VFW and Wellsville Moose Club. Friends may call on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral at 3256 Riverside Drive, Wellsville. The memorial service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Marc Chamberlain of Genesis Bible Church in Scio, officiating.
