Robert N. Chase,
64, passed away Thursday (Nov. 29, 2012) at home.
Mr. Chase was
born on June 30, 1948 in Oneida to Benjamin and A. Elizabeth (Shiels) Chase. He
was a 1967 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. He attended Oswego State Teachers
College and Alfred Technical College.
Robert owned and
operated Chase Enterprises as an independent contractor for 40 years. He also
drove bus for ARC in Wellsville and more recently worked security at Dresser
Rand in Wellsville.
Bob is survived
by a brother, Douglas Chase of Westminster, Colo.; and several cousins.
Bob had a
servant’s heart. In the 1970’s, he began a long association with the Salvation
Army where he attended cadet school and volunteered in many capacities. He
attended Alfred-Almond Bible Church and gave greatly of his time and talents
during their church building project. He worked for a few years in the 1980’s
at Word of Life in Schroon Lake. In the 1990’s he attended Wellsville Bible
Church and again used his construction talents during their initial building
project. He also attended Faith Bible Church and Anchor Baptist Church, both in
Wellsville, again serving wherever there was a need.
Bob enjoyed
playing accordion and honed his talents as an artist. He was a member of the
Willing Fire Department and a life member on the National Rifle Association.
There will be no
prior visitation. The funeral service will be held on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 11
a.m. at Wellsville Bible Church with long time friend, Rev. Daniel Kenyon,
officiating. Burial will take place at Oneonta Plains Cemetery in Oneonta.
Arrangements are
under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover.
In honor of the
Christmas season and Bob’s long time relationship with Salvation Army, memorial
contributions in Bob’s name will be gratefully accepted at any Salvation Army
collection point or Salvation Army, 25 East Pearl St., Wellsville, NY 14895.
