Daniel George Ainsworth, 48, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday (Sept. 21, 2009). He had been undergoing successful chemotherapy for lymphoma.
Dan was born on April 22, 1961 on his grandfather George Fitzpatrick’s birthday. The two shared a close, lifelong bond and enjoyed countless fishing expeditions together.
Dan was a 1979 graduate of Whitesville Central School. He worked for Current Control in Wellsville and most recently, Fitzpatrick Poultry in Whitesville.
Dan is survived by his parents, Ruth and Lemar Solley of Girard, Ohio and Earl Ainsworth of Franklinville; three brothers, Michael (Bonni) Ainsworth of Rexville, Patrick (Sharon) Ainsworth of Princeton, NJ and Brandt Ainsworth of Franklinville; two sisters, Susan Kear of Whitesville and Rebecca (Michael) Riley of Lancaster, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Ainsworth of Whitesville; Uncle Jim and Aunt Sandra Fitzpatrick and Aunt Jean Clark, all of Whitesville; 10 nieces and nephews, Brett Ainsworth, Dusty Ainsworth, Kara Bowers, Josh Kear, Molly Kear Mattison, Laura Stambaugh, Katie Stambaugh Howell, Becca Stambaugh, Jared Ainsworth and Jimmy Ainsworth; and several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
In addition to spending time with his Grampa Fitzpatrick, Dan enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially at his brother’s hunting camp and at his parents’ camp in Potter County, Pa.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Troutman of First Baptist Church of Andover, officiating. Burial will follow in Whitesville Rural Cemetery.

Howard B. Barney, 91, formerly of Independence, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 27, 2009) at Highland Healthcare Center.
Mr. Barney was born on Nov. 18, 1917 in Independence to Harold and Osee (Billings) Barney. He was a 1937 graduate of Wellsville High School.
Howard owned and operated Barney Farm in Independence until his retirement in 1994. He also worked locally in the oil field for various companies.
Howard is survived by a daughter, Beverly (Richard) Mead of Augusta, Ga.; a son, Ron Cook of Dansville; a sister-in-law, Marian Barney of Hallsport; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Barbara Jean Barney and Betty Jo Wilson; his twin brother, Harold Barney; a sister, Violet Leonard; and two granddaughters, Charlene Wilson and Tina Mead.
Howard was a member of Independence Mennonite Church and Hallsport Grange and served on the Independence Town Board. He was an avid fiddle player and enjoyed working with horses and repairing clocks. He also enjoyed making maple syrup on his farm.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ernest G. “Mike” Burdick, III, 63, passed away Saturday (July 11, 2009) at VA of WNY Healthcare Systems in Buffalo.
Mr. Burdick was born on Oct. 18, 1945 in Wellsville to Ernest G., Jr. and Regina M. (Barton) Burdick. He was a 1962 graduate of Wellsville Central School.
Mike enlisted in the US Army in 1962 and served two years and reenlisted in the US Navy and served an additional 18 years, retiring from the service in 1986.
Mike is survived by his mother, Regina M. Barton of Trenton, Fla.; a son, Michael Shawn Burdick of Martinsville, Ind.; two sisters, Maureen Burdick of Butler, NJ and Marisa (David) Sessions of Trenton, Fla.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a son, Richard Burdick, who died in combat in Iraq; and a brother, also Richard Burdick.
Mike served his country proudly and was a life time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Hillside Cemetery in Andover with full military honors.

Robert S. Burton, 82, passed away on Thursday (May 14, 2009) at home surrounded by family.
Mr. Burton was born on July 30, 1926 in Corning to Seth and Elizabeth (Jones) Burton. He served in the U. S. Army from 1946-47. On July 10, 1951, in Corning, he married Laura I. Saxton, who survives.
Robert worked as a dairy barn inspector for Dairylea from 1967 until his retirement in 1991. Previously he owned and operated with his wife the Burton Dairy Farm in Addison.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Bob is survived by a daughter, Irene Burton of Andover; two sons, Seth (Christine) Burton of Greenwood and John Burton of Andover; three grandchildren, Angela (Jacob) Brewster, Steven Burton and Ryan Burton; one great granddaughter, Makaila Brewster; two special children, Caitlin Dean and Cameron Gordon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Burton and a sister, Mary Harrington.
Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved mowing his lawn with his John Deere tractor. He was a member of the Andover Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and the Wellsville American Legion. But mostly, he was a caring husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.

Joseph M. Canale, 83, formerly of Alfred, passed away Friday (May 22, 2009) at Iroquois Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mr. Canale was born on Feb. 13, 1926 in Westfield to Henry and Frances (Militello) Canale. He was a 1944 graduate of Westfield Academy and Union School. He majored in music education at Ithaca College and graduated cum laude in 1950. He earned his master’s degree in 1954. Previous to his attendance at college, he served in the US Air Force as an aviation cadet, having enlisted in July of 1944. On August 16, 1952 he married Margaret A. Holahan in Warsaw, who predeceased him on March 25, 2002.
Joe taught and directed music programs at Andover Central School from 1954-1959 and North Collins Central School from 1959-1966. He was Director of Instrumental Music at SUNY - Alfred from 1966 until his retirement in 1985.
Joe coordinated numerous band trips including tours to Florida and Italy. He established an Alumni Band Association and kept in touch with graduating classes over several years. His love and dedication to music was shared by many within the local communities for years, even after retirement. He could be seen directing and playing the clarinet on early summer evenings with the Alfred Village Band or the Vine City Six Dixie Land Jazz group in Hammondsport. He played organ for Sunday worship services and countless weddings as a member of St. Jude’s Church in Alfred and St. Brendan’s Church in Almond. He also led the choir group at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover.
Joe is survived by three sons, Michael (Ellon) Canale of Durham, NC, Patrick (Barbara) Canale of Jamesville and Joseph (Kimberly) Canale of Corning; two daughters: Sheila (Timothy) Holgate and Marcy Canale, both of Chittenango; two brothers, Henry (Eleanor) Canale of Rochester, MN and Larry (Millie) Canale of Leroy; two sisters, Rose Paternostro of Simi Valley, CA and Mary Cich of Depew; nine grandchildren, Erin (Jeff) Agan of Nashville, NC, Megan Canale of Syracuse, Katherine Holgate and Christopher Holgate, both of Chittenango, Juliana Canale and Andrea Canale, both of Jamesville, and Nicole Canale, Brianna Canale and Claire Canale, all of Corning; one great grandchild, Colin Agan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Eva Criscione and Josephine Sack.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover with Rev. Sean DiMaria as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Warsaw.

Florence L. Cartwright, 92, formerly of Alfred, passed away Thursday (Feb. 12, 2009) at Boulevard Terrace Rehab. and Nursing Home in Murfreesboro, Tenn. surrounded by family.
Mrs. Cartwright was born on April 21, 1916 in Buffalo to John and Louise (Zeigler) Walter. She was a 1934 graduate of Andover Central School. In 1935, she married Ernest L. Cartwright Sr., who predeceased her in 1966.
For many years, Florence was a self-employed house painter and later worked as a custodian for Alfred University until her retirement in 1978.
Florence is survived by two sons, Ernest L. “Roy” (Joanne) Cartwright Jr. of Arkport and Keith (Bonnie) Cartwright of Elm Valley; a daughter, Nancy Harvey of LaVergne, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ray Walter and John Walter; and a son-in-law, Warren Harvey.
Florence was an avid card player, puzzler and she loved gardening, but more than these, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Cornelius was born on the Winding Brook Farm in Alfred on Aug. 26, 1917 to Lynn and Grace (Higby) Langworthy. She was a 1935 graduate of Alfred Station Union School. She then moved to Plainfield, NJ with her aunt and uncle to attend business school. On March 4, 1943, in Alfred Station, she married Wayland S. Cornelius, who predeceased her on Jan. 14, 1999.
Upon returning to Alfred Station, Frances worked at Steuben Trust Bank in Alfred for many years until her retirement in 1978.
Frances is survived by a son, Lyle Cornelius of Alfred, a son- in law, Ronald (Jo Beth) Kemp of Slate Hill; two brothers, Leland (Carol DeBoer) Langworthy of Chittenango and Russell (Carol) Langworthy of Providence, RI; a sister, Doris Van Horn of Loveland, Colo.; two grandchildren, Shane Kemp of Tallahassee, Fla. and Heather (Kristopher) Boone of Chester, Md.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda L. Kemp and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Van Horn.
Besides being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Frances was an avid crotchet crafter. She was also known for her wonderful smile that could light up a room.

Joan B. Goff, 75, formerly of Alfred Station, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 28, 2009) at Life Care Center in Punta Gorda, Fla. Mrs. Goff was born on Nov. 25, 1933 in Alfred Station to Arthur E. and Mary Gretchen (Clare) Burdick. She was a 1952 graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School. On May 6, 1966, in Harbour Heights, she married Arthur Lee Goff, Jr., who predeceased her on June 27, 1999.
Joan is survived by a daughter, Regina Burke of Punta Gorda; two sons, John Burke of Lithia, Fla. and James (Connie) Burke of Huntersville, NC; two sisters, Thelma (Lyle) Palmiter of Alfred Station and Norma Burdick of Wellsville; two brothers, Charles (Jackie) Burdick and Douglas (Mary Jane) Burdick, both of Alfred Station; six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A homemaker for her husband and children, Joan lived an active life. Elizabeth “Jean” Jackson, 75, went home peacefully to Jesus on Saturday (Jan. 17, 2009) at St. James Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Jackson was born on Jan. 7, 1934 in Olean to Everett M. and Florence (Wereley) Childs. She was a 1951 graduate of Portville Central School. In 1980, she graduated with her degree in nursing from Alfred State College. On April 28, 1953, in Olean, she married Clare R. “Bob” Jackson, who survives.
Jean spent the early years raising and nurturing her family. Later, she worked as a registered nurse for Highland Healthcare Center and Jones Memorial Hospital, both in Wellsville.
In addition to her loving husband of 55 years, Jean is survived by two sons, Michael (Cheryl) Jackson of Andover and Robert (Yvonne) Jackson of Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Marcy (Brad) Bledsoe of Andover and Patricia (Mary Lynn Howe) Jackson of Fairhaven; a brother, Tom (Jeanette) Childs of Olean; eight grandchildren, Matthew Jackson, Molly Turner, Melanie Jackson, Katy Terhune, Colin Bledsoe, Daniel Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and John Jackson; and six great grandchildren, Emma Terhune, Grady Terhune, Gabrielle Terhune, Elden Terhune Kylen Jackson and Maeve Turner.

Mr. Joyce was born on Aug. 23, 1934 in Andover to Leo and Agnes (Lynch) Joyce. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 16, 1959 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover, he married Patricia A. Padden, who survives.
Jack worked for Operating Local 832 in Rochester for 32 years until his retirement in 1997. Additionally, he worked for Joyce Pipeline and Otis Eastern.

Fred C. Kelley, Sr., 88, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Saturday (March 14, 2009) at his residence.
Mr. Kelley was born on Feb. 17, 1921 in Hornell to Earl and Ella (Norton) Kelley. On Dec. 3, 1947 he married Ethel Mae Crowner, who survives. In 1985 they moved to Brooksville after his retirement from Worthington (Dresser-Rand) in Wellsville.
Fred was a WWII veteran, serving with the Marines in the Pacific, and he enjoyed writing and telling stories about his war experience. He lived by the motto “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”
He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Kelley, who lost his life serving as a submariner in the Pacific during WWII.
Fred has many hobbies that ranged from woodworking, hand painting, researching family genealogy to making the best “Manhattans” for his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his wonderful stories and beautiful smile. He was a member of the American Legion and was a Christian by faith.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Ethel Kelley of Brooksville, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca ( Robert) Fanton of Wellsville and Nora Sample of Brooksville; a son, Fred C. (Tracy) Kelley, Jr. of Wellsville; a sister Evelyn Brotzman of New York; nine grandchildren, Terry (Scott) Dodge, Michelle Fanton, Erica Fanton, Fred L. In addition to Mabel, Jack is survived by two sons, Andrew (Sheila) Knight of Addison and Mark (Lou) McCormick of Dallas, Tex.; four daughters, Danielle (Scott) Lashbrook of Panama City Beach, Fla., Lisa Chalker of Rochester, Cathy (Frank) DiMino of Niagara Falls and Kelly (Kerry) Waldie of Gun Barrel City, Tex.; three brothers, Rodney (Mary) Knight and John (Marjorie) Knight, both of Canisteo and Gary (Roberta) Knight of Avoca; three sisters, Carol Ritter of Hornell, Marjorie (Lyle) Henry of Canisteo and Linda (Richard) Bacon of Altoona, Penn.; four grandchildren, Sara Knight, Brianna Knight, Ashley Lashbrook and Jacob Lashbrook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Howard Charles McAndrew, 90, formerly of Andover, passed away Saturday (Oct. 17, 2009) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Mr. McAndrew was born on Oct. 24, 1918 at home in the town of Ward to George P. and Carrollotta (Corwin) McAndrew. In 1939, he married Hazel Ella Hulse, who predeceased him in 1970.
Howard retired from Turbodyne Corp. as a machinist foreman after 35 years of service.
Howard is survived by a daughter, Teresa Stuart (Dennis) Johnson of Almond; a son, Eric (Lisa) McAndrew of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Hollenbeck of Andover; two brothers, Vincent (Elsie) McAndrew and James (Connie) McAndrew, both of Wellsville; four grandchildren, James (Cindi) Stuart, Pamela (Terry) Stadtmiller, Alexis McAndrew and Patrick McAndrew; two great grandchildren, Kiley Stadtmiller and Ema Stadtmiller, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lloyd N. Mosher, 75, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2009) at Bradford Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Mosher was born on March 23, 1933 in Scio to Avery and Eugenia (Clark) Mosher. On March 4, 1955, in Wellsville, he married Evelyn J. Baker, who predeceased him on Sept. 9, 1996.
Lloyd worked as a laborer in construction for many years.
Lloyd is survived by four daughters, Evelyn (Daniel) Maloney of Hampton, Va., Sharon Mosher of Cyclone, Pa., Deborah Mosher of Olean, and Melissa (Edward) Shelley of Bradford, Pa.; four sons, Bill (Jackie) Mosher of Long Beach, Miss., Gary Mosher of Plant City, Fla., Leslie (Debbie) Mosher of Wellsville and Rodney Mosher of Wellsville, Pa.; a brother, Robert Mosher of Cyclone, Pa.; a loving companion Iva Green and extended family; 37 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Donald Baker and Michael Mosher; three brothers, Avery Mosher, Richard Mosher and Jack Mosher; a sister, Eleanor Ayers; and a grandson, Jarrett Eck-Main.

Mrs. Mosher was born on May 22, 1926 in New Bedford, Mass., the daughter of Fortunato and Custodia (Oliveria) Sylvia and was close to her loving step-father, Joaquim “Jack” Dias. On March 23, 1946 in Almond, she married Leland C. “Lee” Mosher, who survives. They lived in Hornell until 1969 and then moved to Wellsville. The past 20 years they have resided with their daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Wayne in Andover.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, Ruth is survived by two daughters, Judi (Wayne) Grant of Andover and Dawn (Danny) Grant of Randleman, NC; a son, Alan (Nancy) Mosher of Wellsville; two sisters, Beverly Sylvia of Brooksville, Fla. and Jacquline (George) Mello of Fairhaven, Mass.; a brother, Francis (Judy) Dias of Zionsville, Ind.; ten grandchildren, Danielle Cleveland, Misti Grant, Mindi (Peter) Graham, Seth (Shelly) Grant, Melissa Grant, Starr Grant, Trevor Grant, Stephanie (Brady) Sturm, Allison Mosher and Jessica Mosher; ten great grandchildren, Kylee Grant-Graham, Logan Graham, Madison Graham, Peyton Graham, Hannah Sturm, Destiny Grant, Cameron Simmons, Keyaira Brooks, Dayja Grant and Willie Grant; two special friends, Anna Brown and Lorraine Ross; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a movie enthusiast with an incredible knowledge of film and actor trivia. But more than this, she was a loving and devoted wife and homemaker and was happiest spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Julia S. Parkinson, 91, formerly of Collingswood, NJ passed away Friday (July 31, 2009) at Cole Hospital in Coudersport, Pa.
Mrs. Parkinson was born on June 26, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Andrew and Mary (Hritzko) Sewack. She was a 1936 graduate of South Philadelphia High School. On June 6, 1950, in Philadelphia, she married Thomas J. Parkinson, who predeceased her on July 17, 1988.
Julia is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (James) Felip of Andover, Eileen Powell of Alfred and Christine (Mehrdad) Salehi of Wellington, Fla.; a sister, Helen Sewack of Wallingford, Pa.; two grandchildren, Lauren Meredith Powell and Christian Thomas Powell, both of Alfred; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Myrlan B. Phillipson, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Sept. 27, 2009) at Wellsville Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Phillipson was born on Aug. 22, 1920 in Hartsville to George and Grace (Rogers) Phillipson. He was a 1939 graduate of Canisteo High School. On July 3, 1946, in Andover, he married the love of his life, Catherine E. Perry, who survives.
Myrlan worked as a sub-foreman for National Fuel in Wellsville for 40 years until his retirement in 1985.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by a fresh air daughter Ellen (Shaun) Baker of Cleveland, OH, special nephews who were like sons, Wayne (Judith) Grant of Andover and Danny (Dawn) Grant of Randleman, NC; 7 “special grandchildren” Melissa Grant, Danielle Grant, Misti Grant, Starr Grant, Mindi (Peter) Graham, Trevor (Heather) Grant and Seth (Shelly) Grant; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Myrlan was predeceased by an infant son, Garlyn Barnett Phillipson; a brother, George Phillipson, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Armstrong and Ardath Kline; and special friend, James H. Lehman.
Myrlan was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He was a passionate NY Mets, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan and in days gone by was a star player on the Andover Town Baseball team. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Andover, a 37 year member and past president of Andover Lions Club, life member of Andover Rod and Gun Club, and active in National Rifle Association and a founding member of Second Amendment Association. Additionally, he belonged to the Conservation Club, Masonic Masons, NYS Coon Dog Field Trial Association and Andover Golden Agers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Andover with Rev. Frank Troutman, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery

Floyd “Chuck” Richardson, 73, passed away Sunday (March 29, 2009) at home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Richardson was born on June 10, 1935 in Corning to Floyd H. and Bernice (Gurnsey) Richardson. He was a 1953 graduate of Canandaigua High School and later served in the United States Navy from 1955-66. On June 5, 1969, in Stannards, he married Linda P. Drake, who survives.
Chuck was a transport driver for Stroehmann Bakeries in Olean for 18 years, until his retirement in 1997.
In addition to his wife of 39 years, Chuck is survived by two daughters, Brenda L. (Brian) Kratzer of Canisteo and Darlene B. Richardson of Arkport; a sister, Alice (Edwin) Welch of Horseheads; five grandchildren, Brianne Kratzer, Brooke Kratzer, Baleigh Kratzer, Heather Amidon and Jarrett Richardson; a best friend and fishing buddy, Bob Lambert; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Jaime C. Richardson and a brother, George H. Richardson.
Chuck was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time around the home landscaping and tending to his flowerbeds. But the light and joy of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Louise G. Weatherby, 94, went home to be with the Lord Saturday (June 6, 2009) at Wellsville Manor Care Center.
Mrs. Weatherby was born on April 19, 1915 in Hartsville to Roy and Flossie (Nichols) Coleman. She was a graduate of St. James School of Nursing. On Nov. 13, 1953, in Genesee, Pa., she married Thomas C. Weatherby, who predeceased her on April 27, 2003.
In addition to being a homemaker, Louise worked as a nurse for Mary’s Nursing Home in Wellsville and later as a respiratory therapist for St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell until her retirement in 1975.
Louise is survived by a son, Stephen (Diana) Burton of Andover; three daughters, Reba (Pat) Davis of Dalton, Ga., Kathy (Ted) Foster and Chris (Marty) Wieszczyk, both of Andover; a son-in-law, Kenneth Wyant of Franklinville; a daughter-in-law, Linda Burton of Perkinsville; 24 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey Wyant; three sons, Daniel Burton, Richard Burton and Michael Burton; and a grandson, Martin Jason Wieszczyk.
Louise was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Andover. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially something for one of her family. She also liked bowling, camping and traveling, but her greatest enjoyment apart from the Lord was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved them greatly.

Rosemary L. Wightman, 87, passed away Thursday (Nov. 12, 2009) at Seager/Bates Home in Hornell.
Mrs. Wightman was born at home on Nov. 7, 1922 in Boynton, Ok. to Riley G. and Lottie (Harbeston) Green. She was a 1940 graduate of Bolivar Central School. On Sept. 26, 1942 in the Richburg Baptist Church she married Richard B. Wightman, who predeceased her on Nov. 6, 1993.
Rosemary is survived by two daughters, Gail D. (Robert) Wightman-Bouldin of Belmont and Joan W. (Dr. Robert) Whelpley of Almond; two sons, Gary R. (Marlene) Wightman of Belmont and Davie L. (Rose) Wightman of Westfield; two sisters-in-law, Genieve Green of Tampa, Fla. and Dorotha Dye of Gloversville; 10 grandchildren, Gregory (Carlene) Hardy, John (Debra) Hardy, Dr. Mark (Donna) Hardy, Dr. Robert W. (Kristina) Whelpley, Dr. Christian W. (Catherine) Wightman, Suzanne W. Additionally, she was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, W. McArthur Chapter 242 and was past Grand Officer.

Mrs. Wightman was born at home on Nov. 7, 1922 in Boynton, Ok. to Riley G. and Lottie (Harbeston) Green. She was a 1940 graduate of Bolivar Central School. On Sept. 26, 1942 in the Richburg Baptist Church she married Richard B. Wightman, who predeceased her on Nov. 6, 1993.
Rosemary is survived by two daughters, Gail D. (Robert) Wightman-Bouldin of Belmont and Joan W. (Dr. Robert) Whelpley of Almond; two sons, Gary R. (Marlene) Wightman of Belmont and Davie L. (Rose) Wightman of Westfield; two sisters-in-law, Genieve Green of Tampa, Fla. and Dorotha Dye of Gloversville; 10 grandchildren, Gregory (Carlene) Hardy, John (Debra) Hardy, Dr. Mark (Donna) Hardy, Dr. Robert W. (Kristina) Whelpley, Dr. Christian W. (Catherine) Wightman, Suzanne W. Whelpley, Tiersa (Dale) Watson, Tia (Greg) Johnson, Melissa (Patrick) Janidlo, Jennifer (Kenneth) Shearer; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, James R. Green and a sister, Shirley Becker.
The family wishes to thank Theresa Bates, proprietor of Saeger/Bates Home for her gentle, loving care for Rosemary these past three years.
Rosemary was a homemaker, looking after the needs of her husband and family. She was a artist, specializing in pencil sketching and a poet. She was a member of Andover United Methodist Chruch. Additionally, she was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, W. McArthur Chapter 242 and was past Grand Officer.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Mr. Tad Manske, officiating. Burial will follow at the Dimmick Cemetery in Richburg.

Neva B. Wittie, 86, passed away Tuesday (March 24, 2009) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Wittie was born on May 8, 1922 in Oakland, Ark. to Art and Belah (Rose) Yocham. She was a 1940 graduate of Oakland High School and served in World War II in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corp. from 1943-44. On July 15, 1943, she married Richard P. Wittie, who predeceased her on Oct. 6, 1991.
Neva worked in the cafeteria at Alfred University and later at Alfred Agricultural College for many years until her retirement in 1987. She also operated her own catering business in Andover.
Neva is survived by a son, Martin “Marty” (Charlotte) Wittie of Andover; a daughter, Deanna Ross of Denver, Co.; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Wittie; a brother, Ira Dean Yocham; three sisters, Lavonna Stone, Retha Secrest and Nelda June; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sons, Karl Wittie, Steven Wittie and Mark Wittie; one brother and two sisters.
Neva enjoyed playing BINGO and cards. She was a member of Andover Firemen Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion and a 20 year member of the Women of the Moose. She was also a member of Wellsville Bible Church.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Daniel Kenyon of Wellsville Bible Church, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Valley Brook Cemetery.
