Naomi Clarke Williamson, 95, passed away Friday (April 12, 2013) at Wellsville
Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Williamson was born on July 13, 1917 in Allegheny Township, Pa. to Archie and Ada Dell (Lent) Densmore. She was a 1935 graduate of Genesee Public School. On March 6, 1938, in Independence, she married Decatur M. Clarke, who passed away in July, 1984. On Dec. 30, 1990, she married Burnis Williamson, who passed away June 2, 1997. Naomi owned and operated Brown’s Nursing Home in Hornell from 1964 until her retirement in 1967. Previously, she worked for Marion Rohr in Hornell as a seamstress and Glidden Pottery in Alfred. Naomi is survived by three sons, Gerald F. (Linda) Clarke and Max (Susan) Clarke, both of Andover and Wally S. Clarke of Independence; one brother, Gerald (Arlene) Densmore of Georgia; two step-sons, Rick Williamson and David Williamson, both of Lakeland, Fla.; 9 grandchildren, Scott (Misha) Clarke, Stacy Remillard, Kathy (Douglas) McCutcheon, Benjamin (Denise) Clarke, Will Clarke, Hannah (Chuck) Powell, Christi (Antonio) Bazemore, Cheri Field and fiancé Kevin Drake and Cassi (Shane) Sharrett; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to both husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers, Irwin Densmore and Archie Rexford Densmore; and four sisters, Althea Hornburg, Gowanda Osgood, Irma Coyendal and infant Dorothy Densmore. Naomi was a longtime member of Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church where she was baptized in 1951. Her passion in life was that of a caregiver. After retirement in 1967, she was continually taking care of someone and watching over their physical needs. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Kenneth Chroniger of the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
