A. Davis, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday (June 14, 2014) at Hart Comfort
House in Wellsville, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Davis was born on July 20, 1926 in Willing to Clyde L. and Iva (Acker) Clark. She was a 1946 graduate of Hornell High School. On June 28, 1947, in Hartsville, she married Louis E. Davis, who predeceased her on March 1, 1996. Leona devoted her life to her family by caring for their needs and providing a loving, happy home life. Leona is survived by one daughter, Linda (Virgil) Garner of Andover; two sons, Wayne (Cindy) Davis and James (Laura) Davis, both of Apalachin; two brothers-in-law, Richard Davis of Andover and Charles (Penny) Davis of Tallmadge, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Marjorie Cornell of Andover, Agnes (Clarence) Williams of Elbridge and Alice Clark of Hornell; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Clark and Marion Foster; and four brothers, Norman Clark, Lawrence Clark, Warren Clark and Donald Clark. Leona was a longtime member of the Andover United Methodist Church and the Andover United Methodist Women. She loved to bowl and participated in the bowling leagues. She enjoyed needlework, especially knitting and was an avid card and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Her greatest joy and love was reserved for her family, especially the grandchildren and she treasured her time spent with them. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Andover United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Kelly, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leona’s name may be made to Hart Comfort House, 141 East State St, Wellsville, NY 14895 or Andover United Methodist Church, PO Box 519, Andover, NY 14806. |
