John M. Cunningham August 30, 1930 - September 7, 2012
John M. Cunningham, 82, formerly of Alfred passed away peacefully Friday
(Sept. 7, 2012) at Seager-Bates Home in Hornell following a brief illness.
Mr. Cunningham was born on
Aug. 30, 1930 and lived in Allegany County most of his life; most recently in
Alfred where the village adopted him and loved him as one of their own.
Johnny loved to walk the
streets of Alfred, visiting his friends at the Collegiate, Alfred Pharmacy and
Alfred Post Office. He was a faithful member of St. Jude Parish in Alfred where
he displayed much of his locally famous artwork. He was a Yankee fan. H
He had a gift for remembering numbers, anniversaries, birthdates and
calendars. His simple pleasures included his favorite meal, meatloaf.
Johnny is survived by his many
friends at St. Jude and the Alfred community. Among his closest friends are
Mike, Peggy, the Quackenbush’s, Deb, Tony, Father Gene, Katie, Theresa at
Seager-Bates Home and Dr. Stephen Spink.
Friends are invited for a time
of visitation at St. Jude Parish in Alfred on Tuesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at
which time there will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:30 at the church
with Rev. Gene Ulrich of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as
celebrant. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral
Home in Wellsville.
