James R. Burgett September 22, 1930 - June 16, 2012
James R. Burgett, 81, formerly of Andover, passed
away Saturday (June 16, 2012) in Buffalo. Mr.
Burgett was born on Sept. 22, 1930 in Andover to Ralph and Hazel (Baker)
Burgett. He was a 1948 graduate of Andover Central School. On April 26, 1952 he
married Rosemary Mead, who predeceased him on Oct. 5, 2010. Jim
worked as a supervisor for National Fuel in Buffalo for 40 years until his
retirement in 1987. Jim is
survived by a daughter Susan (Michael) Copps; two sons, Daniel (Annmarie)
Burgett and David (Karen) Burgett; five grandchildren, Stacie (Brenton) Paris,
Steven Copps, Robert Burgett, Benjamin Burgett and Samuel Burgett; one great
grandson, Tyler Paris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In
addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother Charles Burgett and a
sister, Marion Gilluly. Jim was
an avid gardener, amateur photographer and landscaping enthusiast. He enjoyed
sports and dabbling in stocks. But more than these, he was a loving husband,
father, grandfather and friend, and cherished the time spent with those he
loved. There
will be a memorial grave side service held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in
Andover on Saturday (Oct. 6) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Anita Youtzy of the Andover
United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorial
contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Hospice-Buffalo, Inc., 225 Como Park
Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227. Local
arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover.
