Elizabeth B. Kent, 89, passed away
Thursday (Jan. 12, 2012) at home.
Mrs. Kent was born on Feb. 3, 1922 in
Baltimore, Md. to Karl and Harriet (Blythe) Kibler. She was a 1941 graduate of
Forest Park High School in Baltimore. On Aug. 26, 1942 in Woodlawn, Md. she
married Donald E. Kent, who predeceased her on March 11, 1999.
Elsie worked alongside her husband as
secretary of Kent Farms, but more importantly as his hands on assistant from
1946 until her retirement in 1986.
Elsie is survived by a son, Thomas
(Kathy) Kent of Andover; a daughter, Jeanette (Dave) Cambria of Macedonia,
Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dorothea Smith of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a
brother-in-law, Dean Miller of McGraw; five grandchildren, Amanda (Andy)
Leibham, Mason Searle, Kasandra (Gabe) Hajde, Edward (Betsy) Kent and Joseph
(Lisa) Kent; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was
predeceased by two brothers, Ralph J. Kibler and Commander Edward Lynne Kibler.
Elsie enjoyed portrait and landscape
painting. She liked to go horseback riding and was a member of the High Horse
Saddle Club and Allegany Trail Dusters. She was a passionate animal lover,
especially cats and dogs. Additionally, she was a member of the Order of
Eastern Star. But more than these, she was a loving wife, mother and
grandmother, who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life on the farm.
Friends may call on Saturday from 2-4
p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in
Andover. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the funeral
home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Frank Troutman of the
Andover First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside
Cemetery.
