Ross E. Harris, Jr. passed away Sunday (May 10, 2020) at Manor Hills Assisted Living Residence in Wellsville following a brief illness.
Mr. Harris was born on Aug. 31, 1940 in Fulton to Ross E. and Mildred Pauline (Mitchell) Harris, Sr.
Ross worked as a laborer for Jardens Bronze Foundry in Baldwinsville from 1982 until his retirement in 2002.
Ross is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Dan Burke) Hunter of Albany and Kimberly Herriger of Syracuse; two sons, Kenneth (Lindsay) Harris of Syracuse and Matthew Harris of Fulton; three sisters, Marlene (Robert) Coe of Fulton, Lillian (Allen) Kyle of Hannibal and Robin Durfy of Fulton; three brothers, John Harris of Andover, Timothy (Melissa) Harris of Fulton and David (Jody) Harris of San Diego, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Harris; a sister-in-law, Sandra Harris and a brother-in-law, Charles Durfy.
For Ross, the simple things were the big things. He was a family man who loved his kids and enjoyed spending time with them. He especially enjoyed fishing with his sons. He liked to paint pictures on glass and then give them to family as gifts of the heart. As a hobby, he enjoyed lifting weights and pretending to be Mr. Atlas.
Per his wishes, there will be no prior visitation. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday (May 13) at 2:00 p.m. at Fairdale Cemetery in Hannibal with Pastor Dan Cacciola of the Anchor Baptist Church in Wellsville officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville/Scio. Online condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.
