Carlton Gary “Carl” Dennis, 76, passed away Friday (Feb. 15, 2019) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Dennis was born on March 12, 1942 in Canaseraga to Claire and Esther (Lawrence) Dennis. He was a 1960 graduate of Canaseraga Central School. On Oct. 5, 2006, he married Charlotte A. Logan Malone, who survives.
Carl worked as a supervisor for Eastman-Kodak Company in both Rochester and Windsor, Colo., where he retired in 1991 after 17 years. He previously owned and operated Dennis Farms, a dairy farm on Ossian Hill.
In addition to Charlotte, Carl is survived by six children, Greg (Christine) Goodell of Greeley, Colo, Lisa (Steve) Horne of Medina, Ohio, Robert (Trina) Goodell of Leonardstown, Md., Mari (Bradley Pratt) Dennis of Monument, Colo., Esther (Mike Grisby) of Ault, Colo., and Carlton Dennis, Jr. of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Donald Dennis; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy (Angela) Goodell, Ryan (Malia) Goodell, Brandon (Courtney) Goodell, Dustin (Maddie) Ponce, Emily (Dan) Bruce, Hannah (fiancé Jacob Pusheck) Goodell, Samantha Diehl, Andrew Diehl, Trevor Goodell, Isabel Grigsby, Jesse Grigsby, Harper Dennis and Tanner Dennis; 6 great grandchildren, Auralia Goodell, Tristan Goodell, Eli Goodell, Kaleb Goodell, Liberty Goodell and David Ponce and another great granddaughter , Genevieve Rose soon to be born; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Maryann Ostrowski, Janet Young and Cathy Thomas; and one brother, Andrew Dennis.
Carl was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved spending time in the mountains at his cabin. Together with the family, they made many camping trips in their pop-up camper. A highlight on many occasions was the road trips to either California or New York. In later years, he and Charlotte created many special memories on their trip to Memphis to visit Graceland.
Carl had a competitive side as well. He was a big Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos fan and in his younger days, he loved to bowl. His children have many fond memories of their times spent at the bowling alley. He also enjoyed a good game of cards. As a way of relaxing, he loved the old Gunsmoke reruns.
There will be a time of visitation on Monday from 3-6 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville. The memorial service will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with his nephew, Rev. Donald Dennis, Jr, of the Coe Church of Christ in St. Louis, Mich. officiating.
