Ronald J. Nichols, 61, passed away Sunday (Sept. 30, 2018) at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. following a lengthy illness.
Ronald was born on June 20, 1957 in North Hornell to Donald L. and Reva J. (Swarts) Nichols. He was a 1976 graduate of Andover Central School.
Ron was a truck driver for most of his career. He worked for J.D. Trucking, Jacob’s Daddy and Crete Carrier Corporation for many years. He also drove a delivery van for Stephens Auto, Inc. in Hornell.
Ron is survived by one son, Donald Steven Nichols of Irving, Tex.; one sister, Debra (Robert) Daugherty of St. Augustine, Fla.; three nephews, Rob Daugherty, Matt Daugherty and Dan Daugherty; two “special” granddaughters, Angela Nichols and Nikki Nichols; several cousins; and his faithful canine companion, Bentley.
Ron enjoyed reading and he loved movies. He knew every actress and actor of every movie they played in. As much as anything though, he enjoyed the freedom and solitude of being behind the controls of a tractor-trailer.
The memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Andover Presbyterian Church with Rev. Christian Mattison officiating.
Memorial contributions in Ron’s name may be made to Wellsville Lions Club Diabetes Center at Jones Memorial Hospital, 196 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY 14895.
