Martin was an avid sports enthusiast. He love watching, playing and coaching, especially basketball. For many years he coached youth sports. Marty also had a love for motorcycles and snowmobiles. As a hobby, he enjoyed coin collecting.
Over the past fifteen years, Marty struggled greatly with addiction. With the addiction came broken relationships with family and friends, as well as financial setbacks. His story though was one of redemption. Marty in years past accepted the Lord as his Savior. God never left him and in recent years he learned to lean on God to stay sober and was in the process of re-establishing relationships with his children and a circle of close friends. In the words of his daughter, “Dad overcame many trials; he had a big heart and was a wonderful father.”
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday (Nov. 24) at 11:00 a.m. at Almond Union of Churches with Rev. Charlie Emerson officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover.
