Rodney liked the quiet solitude of a long walk in the woods.
Rodney Lee Nelson III, 36, passed away Monday (Aug. 28, 2017) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Mr. Nelson was born on Jan. 25, 1981 in Wellsville to Rodney Lee, Jr. and Donna (Strong) Nelson. From his early childhood, he was raised and nurtured by his father and step-mother, Rodney Lee, Jr. and Patty Nelson. He was a 1999 graduate of South Greene High School in Greeneville, Tenn.
Rodney worked for G. D. Fuller Roofing, Inc. in Scio for the past 3 years as a roofer. Previously he worked with his father at Innovative Millwright Service, Inc. in Greeneville, Tenn.
In addition to his mother, Donna Strong of Wellsville and father and step-mother, Rodney Lee, Jr. and Patty Nelson of Greeneville, Rodney is survived by his fiancé, Kiara Harnish of Wellsville; two sons, Devin Snead of Richland, N.C. and Cameron Golisano of Portville; five sisters, Melissa Nelson of Parrotsville, Tenn., Sheena Nelson of Canandaigua, Erica Strong of Bath, and Danielle Webster and Morgan Webster, both of Wellsville; his grandmother, Wanda Nelson of Portville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Shad Strong; his grandfather, Rodney Lee Nelson, Sr. and his grandmother, Diana Strong.
Rodney liked the quiet solitude of a long walk in the woods. He often coupled this time searching for ginseng. He was especially friendly with those he met and possessed a good heart. Rodney was always up to a challenge and met them with strong determination. He developed a passion for football from his father and was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
Per the family’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville.
