Mildred L. West, 88, formerly of Vista, Calif., passed away Wednesday (April 13, 2016) at Highland Health Care Center in Wellsville, surrounded by family.
Mrs. West was born on Aug. 31, 1927 in Inglewood, Calif. to William K. and Maude D. (Ralston) Mudgett. On Aug. 14, 1944 in Las Vegas, Nev. she married Leland E. West. On Nov. 25, 1972, at the Little Chapel of the Flowers in Las Vegas, they renewed their vows. Leland predeceased her on Feb. 10, 1997.
Mildred worked as an inspector for Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, Calif.
Millie is survived by a daughter, Donna D. (Gary) Brown of Andover; nine grandchildren, Lori (Sal Salvaggio) Rhein of Mastic Beach, Donna (LeRoy McGhee) York of Wellsville, Anna Locascio of Ocala, Fla., Michelle (Tim) Foley of Spring, Tex., Daniel (Kathy) Longworth of Dothan, Ala., Lee (Kristy) Brown and Jerry (Amy) Brown, both of Andover, Colleen Csizmar of Orange, Conn. and Jennifer (James) Walsh of Sugar Hill, N.H.
Additionally she has 23 great grandchildren, Mitchell Rhein, Zachary Rhein, Crystal (Bill) Ferguson, Kyle York, Kurt York, Kaela Simard, Bryce Foley, Brittany Foley, Nick Longworth, Taylor Brown, Shelbie Brown, Kaleb (Alicia) Brown, Ashley Brown, Daniel Brown, Fiona Brown, Rhiannon Brown, Cormac Brown, Aine Brown, Noah Csizmar, Sophia Csizmar, Rita Walsh, David Walsh and Mary Walsh; 6 great great grandchild, Tera Harrison, Michael Ferguson, Ezra Ferguson, Sandra Ferguson, Aleeah Brown and Lincoln Brown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Longworth; two sisters, Gladys Fink and Helen Plew; and four brothers, Ray Mudgett, Wilmer Mudgett, Lawrence Mudgett and infant Lester Mudgett.
Millie enjoyed gardening. She and her husband loved to travel to various destinations in the U.S. They took a train trip to Alaska on one of their adventures. In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting and in later years would play BINGO and Skiball with her Manor Hills friends.
There will be a time of visitation on Thursday from 1-3p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Mattison of the Andover Presbyterian Church, officiating.
