Kathleen R. Trader, 69, formerly of Batavia, passed away at Manor Hills Assisted Living Residence in Wellsville on Wednesday (Oct. 5, 2016).
Mrs. Trader was born on March 15, 1947 in Batavia to Russell and Ruth (Keidel) Koert, Sr. She was a 1965 graduate of Pembroke High School and later graduated with an accounting degree from Genesee Community College in 1978.On June 25, 1977, she married Albert Trader, who predeceased her on March 1, 1996. Kathleen had a varied working career. She worked at Salways Hardware in Batavia, where she met her future husband. She also worked for GTE Sylvania in Batavia as a color chassis inspector and for Hodgen’s Engraving, also in Batavia. From 1988 through 1993 she worked as a teller for Liberty Bank (Norstar Bank) in Batavia. Kathy is survived by a son, Skip Henning of Batavia; one sister, Nancy (Richard) Koert-Ameigh of Audubon, Pa.; one brother, Art (Shirley) Koert of Batavia; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Russell Douglas Henning; one sister, Sylvia Cecere and one brother, Russell Koert, Jr. Kathy enjoyed knitting, crocheting and craft painting. She used her painting talents to teach a painting class at Manor Hills to many of the other residents. She liked to sing and often plied her talents in the local minstrel show. She was a 51 year member of the Batavia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 332 where she was past president and past vice-president. Additionally, she was a member of the Quota Club for the hearing impaired, the Variety Club and the Zonta Club. In her earlier years, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Wellsville.
