Robert L. Parrott, Jr., 82, passed away Thursday (July 16, 2015) at home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Parrott was born on Sept. 26, 1932 in Syracuse to Robert L. and Mae Estelle (Williams) Parrott, Sr. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950-52; actively participating in the decisive Inch’on Landing on Sept. 15, 1950. After his service, he came home and graduated in 1952 from Christian Brother’s Academy in Syracuse. Robert worked as a sales manager for Wilkins RV in Hornell and later Bath from 1986-95. He then owned and operated Millens Bay Inn in Cape Vincent from 1995-2006 and finally was the dock master for Hutchinson’s Boat Works, Inc. in Alexandria Bay from 2004 until his retirement in 2008. Bob is survived by the love of his life for the past 26 years, Gloria Morehouse; five daughters, Melissa Martin and Meghan Cornish, both of Syracuse, Lisa Delmont of Macedon, Janette (Daryl) Wambold of Cincinnati, Ohio and Deborah (Douglas) Fuller of Belmont; four sons, Robert L. (Michelle) Parrott, III of Syracuse, Bryan Morehouse and Marc (Kathleen) Morehouse, both of Wellsville and Matthew (Tami) Morehouse of Lebanon, Pa.; one brother, William (Virginia) Parrott of Cleveland, N.Y.; one sister, Mary Quick of Fredericksburg, Va.; a special friend, Lucille Walton of Rochester; 23 grandchildren, Christopher Martin, Joshua Martin, Ashley Martin, Samantha Martin, Randy Cornish, Matthew Cornish, Zachary Cornish, Brandon Parrott, Amanda Parrott, Jillian (Mohan) Babu, Anthony Delmont, Jacob Delmont, Paige Thompson, Levi Thompson, Ashley (Eric) Stuck, Nicholas (Tiara) Lupo, Kyle Lupo, David (Ashley) Nelson, Dustin (Mychea) Morehouse, Mackenzie Morehouse, Trevor Clark, Adam Morehouse and Grace Morehouse; and 9 great grandchildren and one very soon to be great grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Marian Fitch, a brother-in-law, Herbert Quick and a great granddaughter, Jaycee Morehouse. Bob was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating and traveling. He always maintained a deep love and devotion to the U.S. Marine Corp; often visiting Marine Corp museums during his travels. Additionally, he was a member of Cape Vincent American Legion Post 832. Visitation will be held on Friday (July 24) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville. The memorial service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Deacon Frank Pasquale of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish in Belmont, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont.
