Mr. Bottoms was born on July 9, 1951 in Fort Bragg, N.C. to George D. and Maxine J. (Putnam) Bottoms. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1970-71. Jeff worked as a machinist for many years until a motorcycle accident in 1989 forced an early retirement. Jeff is survived by a daughter, Natalie Jean (Sekou) Kelsey of Belleville, Ill.; one brother, Dan (Sandy) Bottoms of Aurora, Ill.; one sister, Susan Bottoms of Plano, Ill.; four grandchildren, Lukas White and Ava White, both of Alabama and Indie Kelsey and Kai Kelsey, both of Belleville, Ill; and Jack, his beloved cat. Jeff loved guns and cars. As a member of the Alfred Rod and Gun Club, he enjoyed going out to the shooting range with his friends. In his early years, he was a gymnastics coach and among many joys, he had the joy of coaching his daughter, Natalie. Jeff attended Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church. There will be no prior visitation. A graveside memorial service with full military honors is planned in the spring at the Bottoms Cemetery in Paint Rock, Ala. |
