Dolores M. Carey, 78, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 8, 2015) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Carey was born on Aug. 8, 1937 in Rochester to John and Mary Jane (Maloney) Coules. She was a 1955 graduate of James Monroe High School in Rochester.
Dolores worked as a home health aide for Visiting Nurses Services in Rochester for many years until her retirement in 1983.
Dolores is survived by two daughters, Valerie Jean O’Dell of Rochester and Carla (James) Monda of Conneaut, Ohio; one son, William (Deborah) O’Dell of Rochester; a son-in-law, Frank Folwell of Andover; 20 grandchildren, Shannon Kelsey, Chanel O’Dell, Mathew O’Dell, Scott O’Dell, Shanna O’Dell, Brittney O’Dell, Brandy O’Dell, Nicholas Webber, Tina Webber, Sandra Webber, Karl Bishoff, Erika Bishoff, Bradley Bishoff, Leroy O’Dell, Kattianne Folwell, William Folwell, Sean Thurber, Heather Thurber, Andrew Thurber and Alisa Root; 30 great grandchildren with number 31 coming soon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Charlene Folwell and Mary Jane DePrez and three grandchildren, Adam O’Dell, Roy O’Dell and Christina O’Dell.
Dolores devoted much of her time to the needs of her large family. In later years, she liked to crochet, play BINGO, work puzzles, read books and play cards. She was an avid TV watcher and loved her favorite soap operas.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover.
