Carol A. Nickerson, 76, passed away Sunday (Feb. 8, 2015) at Highland Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Nickerson was born on Dec. 27, 1938 in Wellsville to Elmer and Marie (Mesler) Webster. She was a 1956 graduate of Allentown Union School.
Carol worked at Jones Memorial Hospital, in medical records, for twenty years. She also worked at St. James Memorial Hospital in Hornell and for Dr. Halpenney in both Hornell and Wellsville. Her most recent employment was at the Community Center in Wellsville, retiring in 2008.
Carol is survived by two sons, Dennis Webster of Andover and Gary Nickerson of Citrus Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Teresa Jones and Rhonda Nickerson, both of Andover; nine grand children, Pastor Joshua (Tina) Dean, Dr. Cody Davis, Rachel Ann Brighon, Kattie Brighon, Brigette Brighon, John Jacob Howard, Juanita Green, Zackery Sisson, and Allie Worthington; two great grandchildren, Judah Dean and Grantly Michael Dean; and her very dear friend, Belva Vlassopulos.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Amy Jones.
Carol was an avid sports enthusiast. She was known as a “die-hard” Chicago Cubs fan and a devoted New Orleans Saints fan. She appreciated reading and she savored chocolate, particularly Niagara Chocolates. Carol adored her children and loved to visit with her family.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in Wellsville. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., at the funeral home immediately following the visitation, with Rev. Joshua Dean of the Renovation Church, Buffalo, officiating.
