Norma Lucille Burrows, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday (May 4, 2013) following a brief illness.
Mrs. Burrows was born on Dec. 12, 1931 in Wellsville to Harold L. and Marie Iva (Ordiway) Perry. She was a 1949 graduate of Andover Central School and later earned her nursing degree from St. James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. On Oct. 24, 1953, at the First Baptist Church of Andover, she married Vincent Howard Burrows, who survives.
Norma worked as a nurse for Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville from 1953-73. She then worked for Andover Medical Center until her retirement in 1989. She also worked for County-Home Dialysis Treatment and Andover Central School as a relief nurse.
In addition to her husband of 59 years, Norma is survived by four daughters, Dawn Marie (Bob) Linke, Dorene Burrows, Denise Burrows, all of Andover and Darci (David) Bush of Collins Center; one son, Dennis Howard (Elaine) Burrows of Colden; three sisters, Aletha Hahn of Andover, Mareta (Tom) Routh of Randleman, N.C., Phyllis Grimes of Portville; two brothers, Kenneth (Pearl) Perry of Fla.; and Keith (Ione) Perry of Silver Creek; 5 grandchildren, one great grandchild due any day; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert H. Perry and infant Harold Perry Jr.; and one sister, Catherine Phillipson.
Norma enjoyed bowling, scrapbooking, art, sewing, embroidery, and reading. She was a longtime member of Andover Baptist Church as well as the Order of Eastern Star and Andover American Legion Auxiliary. Though her interest were varied and many, it was the lives and activities of her children and grandchildren that she held dearest to her heart.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Andover with Rev. Daniel Kenyon of Wellsville Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Valley Brook Cemetery in Andover.
