I don't know the deceased, should I go to calling hours?
| Calling hours are not just about sharing about the one who has passed away. A major element of calling hours is showing your support for those left behind. Perhaps your co-worker's (Susan's) mother has died. As you proceed through the line at calling hours you should introduce yourself (i.e. I didn't know Jim, but I work with Susan and just wanted to pay my respects.) As you approach Susan, you can then tell her that you're sorry for her loss. Being present during this very difficult time is a statement that you care. You may then leave at your discretion. |
