Hurne, 88, formerly of Hornell, died on March 9, 2007 at his home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hurne was born on Sept. 10, 1918 in Hornell as the fifth of seven sons to Samuel C. and Anna E. (Conrad) Hurne. He was a 1936 graduate of Hornell High School. On Jan. 20, 1940 he married Angeline Greenfield, who predeceased him on Dec. 23, 1967. On June 28, 1969, in Bristol Springs, he married Grace M. Lincoln, who survives. Milton worked for Hornell Evening ribune from 1937-1941 and Hornell Industries until 1942. As an ordained minister, Milton pastored Christian & Missionary Alliance churches beginning in Andover in 1942; then East Rochester, Penn Yan, Geneva Bristol Springs and finally returning as pastor in Andover where he retired in 1974. In addition to Grace, Milton is survived by three daughters, Anita Fisher of Geneva, Martha Small of Basin, Wy. and Ruth Dietz of Merced, Ca.; three sons, Duane Hurne of Easley, S.C., Harold Hurne of East Sound, Wa. and Paul Hurne of Ithaca; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to Angeline, he was predeceased by six brothers and one granddaughter. Milton always enjoyed the outdoors. In his youth, he loved to play football with the neighborhood boys. In his later years, he was an avid hiker and upon retirement to Stone Lake, he loved boating and fishing. Friends are invited to a celebration of his home going with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the Andover Christian & Missionary Alliance hurch. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church mmediately following the visitation with Pastor Timothy Young of Heritage Baptist Church in Marion, officiating. As the old Christian song Finally Home states, just think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven! Of touching a hand and finding it Gods! Of breathing new air and finding it celestial! Of waking up in glory and finding it home! Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, Hornell. Contributions in Miltons name may be made to Andover C&MA, Heritage Baptist Missions or Regional Hospice of Hayward, Wis. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home, Andover. |
