Obituary  
ANDOVER Clifford P. Bixby,
99, passed away peacefully Thursday
(Sept. 14, 2006) at Wellsville Manor
Care Center.
Mr. Bixby was born on Feb.
10, 1907 in New York City to Elmer
and Charlotte (Perry) Bixby. On Jan.
25, 1947, in Wellsville, he married
Elizabeth J. Rice, who survives.
Cliff proudly served in the United
States Army, 66th Armored Regiment
during WWII from 1941 to 1945 under
General George Patton. Known as
Pops because of his age, he participated
in the Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy and
Northern France campaigns. After the
war, he worked for Bradley Oil Co. in
Wellsville for 26 years until his
retirement in 1972.
In addition to his wife, Cliff is
survived by a son, William (Toni)
Bixby of Mansfield, Pa.; a daughter-
in-law, Rosanne Bixby of Andover,
six grandchildren, Dennis Bixby,
Thomas Bixby, Heidi Bixby,
Christina Bixby, James Bixby
and Aaron Bixby and 4 great
grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son,
Gary Bixby and a brother, Harold Bixby.
Cliff was an avid hunter and
fisher and was very proud of his
gun collection. He was a 50 year
member of the Greenwood and
Andover American Legion.
Friends may call on Monday
from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the
Baker-Swan Funeral Home,
Andover. The funeral service
will be held at 3 p.m. following
the visitation with the Rev. Peggy
Knopf of the Andover United
Methodist Church officiating. Burial
with full military honors will
follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
