JOHN E. JACK JOYCE

ANDOVER John E. Jack Joyce, 75, passed away at his home Wednesday (Aug. 26, 2009).

Mr. Joyce was born on Aug. 23, 1934 in Andover to Leo and Agnes (Lynch) Joyce. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 16, 1959 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover, he married Patricia A. Padden, who survives.

Jack worked for Operating Local 832 in Rochester for 32 years until his retirement in 1997. Additionally, he worked for Joyce Pipeline and Otis Eastern.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, Jack is survived by his children, Edward (Doreen) Joyce of Paris, Ky., Karen (Scott) Steffen of New Castle, Del., Paul (Vicky) Joyce of Bristol, John Stub (Kathy) Joyce and Mark (Alice) Joyce, both of Andover; ten grandchildren, Devin and Tristan Joyce, Robert and Erin Steffen, Delaney and Eoin Joyce, Dustin, Alexandra and Travis Joyce and Aiden Granger; two sisters, Agnes (Jack) Bush of Wellsville and Janie (Tom) Cronin of Canisteo; a brother, Tom Joyce of Andover; two sisters-in-law, Betty Joyce of Andover and Irene Joyce of Avoca, Penn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jack was predeceased by two brothers, Leo T. Joyce and Gerald Joyce.

Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover with Rev. Sean DiMaria as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
