Obituary  
ANDOVER Elizabeth Jean Jackson,
75, went home peacefully to Jesus on
Saturday (Jan. 17, 2009) at St. James
Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Jackson was born on
Jan. 7, 1934 in Olean to Everett M. and
Florence (Wereley) Childs. She was a
1951 graduate of Portville Central School.
In 1980, she graduated with her degree in
nursing from Alfred State College. On
April 28, 1953, in Olean, she married
Clare R. Bob Jackson, who survives.
Jean spent the early years
raising and nurturing her family. Later,
she worked as a registered nurse for
Highland Healthcare Center and Jones
Memorial Hospital, both in Wellsville.
In addition to her loving husband
of 55 years, Jean is survived by two sons,
Michael (Cheryl) Jackson of Andover and
Robert (Yvonne) Jackson of Canton, Ohio;
two daughters, Marcy (Brad) Bledsoe of
Andover and Patricia (Mary Lynn Howe)
Jackson of Fairhaven; a brother, Tom
(Jeanette) Childs of Olean; eight grandchildren,
Matthew Jackson, Molly Turner, Melanie
Jackson, Katy Terhune, Colin Bledsoe, Daniel
Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and John Jackson;
and six great grandchildren, Emma Terhune,
Grady Terhune, Gabrielle Terhune, Elden
Terhune Kylen Jackson and Maeve Turner.
She was predeceased by a brother,
Ronald Childs and a sister, Shirley Delahanty.
Jean was past treasurer of Blessed
Sacrament Altar and Rosary Society and a
member of Blessed Sacrament Choir and
Andover Ecumenical Choir. She was devout
in her prayers. She loved music, making rosaries,
tending flowers and watching her backyard birds
. But more than this, she was a devoted wife,
mother and grandmother who loved her family
dearly.
Friends may call today f
rom 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home
in Andover. There will be a Mass of
Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at
Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover
with Rev. Sean DiMaria as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven
Cemetery.
