(Williamson) Streeter. In 1916,

Streeter Farm. In 1928, she was
the sole graduate of Greenwood
Union School and later attended
Alfred University. On Dec. 29,
1931, in Whitesville, she married
Lewis Ross Cornell, who
predeceased her in 1963.
Janette was owner and
president of Greenwood Cable
TV from 1952-1963. Additionally,
she served as Greenwood Town Clerk
and worked in the law office of William
G. Kellogg for many years.

Janette was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a long time member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. In 1967 she donated property which allowed the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company to expand.
As a descendant of Greenwoods early settlers, Janette was active in genealogical research. In 2005, she took part in a first-of-its-kind Mitochondrial DNA test that conclusively proved her 12-generation matrilineal line of descent from Aeltje Cornelis (Cool) (Van Couwenhoven) Stoothoff (ca. 1615 1683) and inspired an article in the scholarly journal, New Netherland Connections.
Janette was deeply loved by her family and the community. Her life was distinguished for her kind acts and helpfulness to others and a great sense of humor. Janette enjoyed going to the lake, planting flowers, taking day trips, and above all, being with her family. She was a model wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Greenwood United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Peggy Knopf officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you for a little while, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears And hug your sorrow to you through the years. But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And for my sake and in my name, live on and do all things the same, Feed not your loneliness on empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways, Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die, for I am waiting for you in the sky!
